Topic: UT2 Quality & Pre-Purchase Questions?Posted: December-21-2010 at 4:15pm |

I've purchased UT in the past when I use to have FS9. I've finally made the decision to go with FSX after building my computer which I'm very happy with the way FSX runs in it. I want to get UT2, but have questions that perhaps someone with past experience can help me compare with the old UT.
First I want to know about the quality of the models and repaints. What is the polygon count, and based on from LOD 1 through LOD 9, where do these model rank?
My second questions is, if I purchase UT2, will the latest wrapper include the latest schedule upgrade?
My last questions is, how simple it is to replace the cheese looking models and repaints with new once that I may find in other sites, using UT2 utility tool?

1. If you used AIA, TFS and DJC models in FS9, then you're familiar with the quality of the models and paints. Here is a list of the models being used in UT2. I have been replacing the
Burkhard Renk models with ones I already had installed.

I'm not sure. There is a free Summer 2010 schedule that has been released recently and a Winter 2010 schedule should be released soon.
3. Just as easy as it was with the FS9 version of UT.

Thanks Mark, sounds good, just one more question. With WofAI I've had to uncheck aircraft cast shadow on the ground to be able to see the AI aircrafts in some of the payware airports, but not necessary on stock airports. With UT2, would I be able to allow aircraft to cast shadow on the ground? I just feel it's more realistic, and my system can handle the fps nicely, more so when I change my graphic card from my current GTX460 to the GTX580 which I plan to pick up next month.

An edit for my other post, the Winter 2010 schedule has been released for the normal small fee.
I don't know if I can answer this one correctly because I can't remember why they don't show (using DX10 or that they were FS9 models). The models included with UT2 are made for FSX. I'm in the middle of a slow rebuild of FSX and don't have all my payware airports installed yet to be able to check. I do have 2 from FlyTampa installed and the aircraft shadows do show on the ground.

Thanks Mark, I think that the fact that UT2 was made for FSX in mind, should give me comfort that the AI aircrafts will show up with the aircraft shadow option on. What I will do is download the demo, and if the demo works fine for me, I'll go ahead and buy the full version.
