Please tell us how Chris managed to sort it out for you, just in case other members might have a similar problem. |

I totally thick when it comes to computers, all I know is it was something to do with Service Pack, although now I see the aircraft on the ground and the tower mentions them etc, but when I in the air I only hear and see the SFX aircraft is that normal and how do I fix this now, as soon as I land all Ultimate Traffic is there.

My apologies first of all for my attitude yesterday. I get frustrated when things don't go right. I appreciate your help Mr. Hanstater. I run Windows 7, all updates. I have FSX SP2. I have the download version of UT2 2.09. I tried re downloading and re-install. Same prob. All antiviruses shut off. I am unable to find "windows UAC' in order to be sure it is disabled. On start-up, I hear the ladies voice. Program does not show up under the ADDON menu in FS. Here is my FSX path.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="Windows-1252"?> <SimBase.Document Type="Launch" version="1,0"> <Descr>Launch</Descr> <Filename>exe.xml</Filename> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <Launch.ManualLoad>False</Launch.ManualLoad> <Launch.Addon> </Launch.Addon> <Launch.Addon> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <ManualLoad>False </ManualLoad> <Name>UT2</Name> <Path>C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\\Flight One Software\Ultimate Traffic 2\UT2Services.exe</Path> <NewConsole>True</NewConsole> </Launch.Addon> </SimBase.Document> On the manual load line, I changed false to true. Same results. Please let me know if you need more info. Again I apologise. Not all Yanks are as groutchy as me. S. Sumner

Up Date= I found Windows UAC and shut it down along with all Anti virus programs. Did a complete uninstall of UT2, then Re-Downloaded, and Re-installed the program. Aircraft still do not appear on ground nor does program shoe up under the Add-on menu in FS. Both the .UTL, and .BGL files show up in the scenery folder. Here is latest exe. file <?xml version="1.0" encoding="Windows-1252"?>
<SimBase.Document Type="Launch" version="1,0"> <Descr>Launch</Descr> <Filename>exe.xml</Filename> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <Launch.ManualLoad>False</Launch.ManualLoad> <Launch.Addon> </Launch.Addon> <Launch.Addon> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad> <Name>UT2</Name> <Path>C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\\Flight One Software\Ultimate Traffic 2\UT2Services.exe</Path> <NewConsole>True</NewConsole> </Launch.Addon> </SimBase.Document> |

Your EXE.xml looks OK, provided that your path to UT2Services.exe is correct.
<NewConsole>True</NewConsole> should not be on the same line as the UT2Services path. I'm really puzzled that you hear the lady's voice in UT2, which indicates that UT2 has loaded, but that UT2 doesn't show in FSX menu. All I can think of is that received opinion is that FSX should be installed directly on your C:\ drive, not in the default Program Files (x86). I'm sorry that I have nothing further to suggest other than that you start over and reinstall FSX on your C:\ drive. I understand that this might well involve uninstalling all other programmes which point to FSX. I do understand your frustration. It can be very annoying. |

Look in your FSX.cfg file in the [Main] section and look for the following.
SimObjectPaths.0=SimObjects\Airplanes SimObjectPaths.1=SimObjects\Rotorcraft SimObjectPaths.2=SimObjects\GroundVehicles SimObjectPaths.3=SimObjects\Boats SimObjectPaths.4=SimObjects\Animals SimObjectPaths.5=SimObjects\Misc SimObjectPaths.6=SimObjects\UT2 Aircraft Make sure you have the line in red above. If you don't, add it directly after SimObjectPaths.5=SimObjects\Misc. Some members have mentioned that it has sometimes been added but at the end of the [Main] section. If that is the case, move it so it's directly after SimObjectPath.5. You can find the FSX.cfg in your C:\Users\user_account_name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX folder.

It looks like you are using Windows 7 64bit. FSX is a 32bit program, that's why it is in the Program Files (x86).
I was looking at the contents of your exe.xml. There was an error in one of them, which David pointed out. The first one you posted, you mentioned that you changed the manual load line from false to true. I don't see that in either of your posts which makes me think it has to do with permissions. Do you have any other entry in your exe.xml other than what you posted above? If not, make a copy of your exe.xml and save it to your desktop. Open your original exe.xml (in your C:\Users\user_account_name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX folder) and replace all of the contents with the following. <?xml version='1.0' encoding='Windows-1252'?> <SimBase.Document Type='Launch' version='1,0'> <Descr>Launch</Descr> <Filename>exe.xml</Filename> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <Launch.ManualLoad>False</Launch.ManualLoad> <Launch.Addon> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad> <Name>UT2</Name> <Path>C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\\Flight One Software\Ultimate Traffic 2\UT2Services.exe</Path> <NewConsole>True</NewConsole> </Launch.Addon> </SimBase.Document> I copied the path from what you have in your post, but double check it to make sure it is where UT2Services.exe is located. If you do have another entry, make sure to copy it (starting with <Launch.Addon> and ending with </Launch.Addon>) and add it between what I have in red above. If Windows won't allow you to save the change, it may be a permission problem. I think you have to right click on your main FSX folder, select Properties and then the Security tab. Look and see if you have full control for your user name.

Have a look here for the smartassembly message.
I have searched the forum to see if there is anything else that i may have missed and I can't find anything or other members that have had this problem and fixed it did not reply back with the solution that worked for them. Was the path to UT2Services.exe in what I posted above correct for where you have it installed?

One more thing, the trafficaircraft.bgl file is no longer present. Only the utl. file. Sorry for all the posts, but I wanted you have all that I am showing. I have My Traffic 2010 waiting to be installed if we cannot find a solution. Thanks for all your efforts. S. Sumner

That's correct. UT2 changes trafficaircraft.bgl to trafficaircraft.utl, thus disabling it. I have to admit that I'm out of ideas. I have Windows7 64-bit, FSX deluxe + acceleration and have no problems at all installing UT2. Usually I try to reproduce problems, but in your case this is obviously impossible. I agree with Mark that there are occasionally members who appear to have had similar, though not identical, problems, but they haven't told us how they solved them. I'm convinced that something on your computer is inhibiting UT2 from installing properly in FSX, but I don't know what it is. The most likely candidate is one of your security utilities. Some of them are notoriously difficult to disable. It could also be a faulty FSX. The only suggestion I can make now is that you uninstall both UT2 and FSX, then reinstall FSX in your root C:\ drive, NOT Program Files (x86), making doubly sure that your security devices are completely disabled. |

Well, I uninstalled UT2, then loaded My Traffic2010. No problem. I may try your suggestion. Someone just got a 40 dollar donation. Too bad. Thx for your help. You may hear from me again.

Good morning gentlemen. I sat back and just thought for a moment. I did a complete uninstall of everything. I went to the FSX website and just looked. One item caught my eye. FSX SP2. It just does not ring a bell, so I downloaded it. I then re-install FSX, then install the latest version of FSUIPC. From there, I load SP1. THEN I load SP2. I see a splash screen I don't recall seeing before. It loaded up just fine. That was last night, and it was too late to go any further. Seven hours later after a good nights sleep, I am sitting here at my table with coffee, and thinking," Do I try UT2 one more time?" Go for it. I watch very carefully, and one small message happens to say," SP2 Of FSX is required", Everything looks good as it installs. When It is finnished I go to settings, and set options for weekly. I then take a deep breath and fire up FS. I choose a 767 and park it at KORD at a heavy gate. It loads up, and I see a United Airlines airliner sitting along side of me. I pan out and around, and I see all kinds of aircraft everywhere. In the skys I see planes coming in and the labels say Ultimate aircraft, speed and elevation. I am now a happy camper. I still appreciate your help and patience. Thanks Again. S. Sumner

Well done!!
You said in an earlier message that you had FSX SP2, so I didn't pursue it. See HERE for the basic requirements for UT2. So much for the prophets of doom. Most UT2 install problems are caused by simple omissions and failure to RTFM. Let us know if you need any further help, but UT2 has been around for some time now, so it's always worth searching the forum, because it is most likely that your questions have been answered before. |
