The update for UT from FS9 to FSX will be released sometime around the 20th May 2007 here is a list of the work that is being carried out for the release, this is a FINAL list and no modifications will be made to it, unless a major problem needs to be fixed.

  1. Vista Compatible
  2. Default UT Aircraft are now installed/moved to a new folder SimObjects/AI Aircraft
  3. New entry in the FSX.cfg file to account for the new aircraft folder
  4. Aircraft Assignments for current FS installation to be moved over into FSX.  This will include copying aircraft folders if necessary
  5. Airport data files updated to FSX airports
  6. Airline data files updated to latest carrier definitions
  7. All new aircraft types will be included in the data even if no model exists so that users can assign one (A380,Etc)
  8. Repaint.txt file updated to show model/texture combination instead of Y or N
  9. Updated aircraft.cfg files for default aircraft for jet bridge compatibility
  10. Ability to Add/Change airport data
  11. New schedule to be included that will be current for first week in May 2007
  12. General aviation traffic to be REMOVED
  13. Following functions to be removed for the compatibility patch :-
    • PalmSpotter
    • TCAS
    • AFCADs
    • The Text-o-Matic Utility
    • The Package Utility
    • Parking Code Utility
  14. Automatic Updater to be removed in the FSX compatibility patch

For ease of implementation the user will need to have a full install of UT in FS9 on the same computer as FSX.  On installation we will install a fresh build of UT, then copy over aircraft assignments and any other used models.  Airline Package Files that the user has created will have to be added once installation is complete.

For FS9 users a new schedule will be released around the same time.

I will need 3 or 4 BETA testers for the FSX update, if you would like to apply to take part in the test then PM me with the following data:-

  1. The specification of your machine.
  2. What version of Windows you are using (XP or VISTA)
  3. How long you have owned UT.
  4. What BETA testing experience you have.
  5. and SORRY, your AGE! You must be 16 or above to apply

I only need 3 or 4 testers as this will be a fairly short test so if you do not hear from me by PM sorry you did not make the cut!!

Hi John, I'm sure you got your beta testers by now and I wouldn't of been able to do much as I don't get the time to use FSX as much as I wish.

Just wanted to say how great it is to hear there will be a UT to use with FSX and Vista  Tongue

I've missed it.

So I have two things to look forward to this month with FSX.

UT update and FSX service pack 1

Cheers

Since UT for FSX will just be a patch and a lot of the features are being removed for compatibility, I'm wondering if there are any plans in the works for Ultimate Traffic 2, which would be a completely new product built from the ground up to work with FSX?

So as a matter of getting things into the right order does SP1 need to be loaded before the UT update?

Not that I'm aware of, although FS Insider Phil Taylor has a blog at MSDN

He and others are not saying much about what service pack will due except improve performance, take advantage of the Duel and quad core proccessors.

All beta testing has been done in house so no copies have got out.

You can read more about it at flightsim.com forum.

Hi,

This may sound like a stupid question, but will this update the UT for FS 2004/2002 in Windows Vista?

Gulp! It's the 20th here in Oz! I hope all went well and the release is mere hours away, because I've been missing my UT since i updated to FSX! I'm even ready to reinstall FS9 just to be able to port over UT to FSX!

Thanks in advance for the FSX update.

Same here, 20th May in OZ

But 20th was only a potential date, I'm happy to wait a day or 2 or 3 if it means we get a good working product.

looking forward to this update. I have just spent 2 weeks reverse engineering the schedules for FSX, and still only hitting abut 60% of the flights. main reason being missing airports or parking limitations.

The features list answers some problems such as airports AFCADs being needed.

I had deleted FS9 from my PC to save space (I have plenty now though).
Question:
What willI need from my old installation to get this going, e.g. key file etc.

Regards

Charlie

You've been a little hasty. You will need the current version of UT and FS9 to be installed in order to run the UT update for FSX. See the first message at the top of this thread.

Thanks for the quick response.

I had not realised that UT was patching to FSX. On the occasions when i checked this was not evident so I decided to port it over myself.

I had realised that I needed UT installed within FS9, but unsure that I either needed to re-install it myself or from the update, and whether or not I will need to have the original set of download information (licence file) available.

Where will notice of availability be posted? This forum or this topic? (Lazy - saves scouring several pages Wink)

Cheers

Hello!

It's great that UT will be available for use in FSX with a patch. However, I want to know if it will be possible to buy UT for FSX without having to first buy and install the FS9-version and then buying the update?

I am not such a computer genius and would probably get everything messed up... Better for me to buy a new FSX-ready procuct, although a little more expensive.

I have hade UT for many years in FS9 and think it's the best AI-product there is.

Best regards

Jan

The new UT FSX patch will be available soon, and it does require the current version of UT and FS9 to be installed on the same computer as FSX. It will probably be a completely automatic install.

We have not yet been given a date for a stand-alone UT for FSX.

Hey All,

Just wondering if it will be possible just to get the updated timetables? I've installed the current UT into FSX and have it running no problems at all. I don't want to have to reinstall a copy of FS9 as thats a big pain the the rear end just, but I would love to have the new schedules?

Will it be possible just to update the schedules?

Cheers,

Kael

I am now totally confused. Are you saying that UT can be directly installed into FSX without any patch.

If so why is a patch being produced at allTongueShocked

Somewhere around here there are some steps that can be followed to get UT into FSX. I did it without any problem. Of course the AFCAD's don't work, nor does PalmSpotter or TCAS. But I still get the timetables and aircraft (which I later replaced with AIA and FSPainter anyway).

Given that the patch isn't going to allow us FSXers to use AFCADS, PalmSpotter or TCAS, all I'm really interested in is the new schedules?

So does anybody know? Will th scedules be available as a seperate download/purchase?

Cheers,

Kael

After FSX came out someone on one of these forums posted how to use UT in FSX

I think it was a fairly early post under FSX and UT say last November.

However you still had to install UT into FS9 and then copy things across.

When I did it, only the AI aircraft worked, nothing else as far I I remember.

If you then uninstalled FS9, then menu window for UT would not work, so you could not complile traffic, update things, see a virtual departue board etc.

As for this update YT traffic are about to release I am assuming it is different to that, although I do find it interesting that one still has to install FS9 to get it to work at first.

Maybe others can explain this better than I

Ciao

Phil

The forthcoming UT update is designed to work with FSX, and will install automatically.

I have UT working in FSX.Smile  Everything appears to work bar TCAS, Palmspotter. You need to create a folder "aircraft" under your main FSX folder. You stick all AI aircraft in that aswell as in your "simobjects/airplanes" folder. You must ensure all "aircraft.cfg" files for your aiaircraft stay exactly the same across both folders otherwise you will have nonappearing planes.Cry I do not use default aircraft that came with UT, have changed them over to Aardvark, FSP, PAI, EVAI models as these all work fine in FSX. I hope to just download the new schedule for FS9 when it comes out and slot that in.Embarrassed

I agree. Just want to download the new schedules and perhaps a complete UT compatiable airport list, so I don't have to manually go into UT and change airport designators.

Anyword on the 20 May release?...I know, it will be ready when its ready...
